FROM THE FIELD: Special Story from Pial Kanti Shil about our State Orphanage Program in Bangladesh

I am excited to share an update from our recent Prize Giving Ceremony and Cultural Program, held on 27 June 2026 at Government Shishu Paribar in Cox's Bazar under our Music Program.
As part of our music program, we conduct a learning assessment every two months to evaluate the children's progress and identify areas where they need additional support. Following the latest assessment, we organized this special event to celebrate the children's achievements, recognize their hard work, encourage them to continue learning through music, and allow them to proudly showcase their talents.
What made this event especially meaningful was the excitement the children carried long before the program began. For nearly two weeks, they eagerly counted down the days, asking us, "When is the program?" and "How many days are left?" Every music class became a rehearsal as they practiced their pennywhistle pieces, songs, and dances with incredible enthusiasm. They encouraged one another, helped each other improve, and were determined to give their very best on the big day.
When the day finally arrived, the entire atmosphere was filled with joy. Around 80 participants, including the children, Government Shishu Paribar officials, our Executive Director, Kysar Hamid, volunteers, and guests, joined the celebration. The children arrived in bright, colorful outfits, and the excitement in their eyes and the happiness on their faces reflected how eagerly they had been waiting for this special day.
The children confidently presented pennywhistle performances, solo songs, group songs, and dances, while our volunteers also performed, making the celebration even more joyful. The event was filled with excitement, laughter, and encouragement, creating a truly memorable experience for everyone.
Following the performances, we recognized the children's achievements based on their assessment results. The top performers received first, second, and third prizes, while every child received a consolation prize in recognition of their dedication and participation. Seeing every child walk onto the stage with confidence and leave with a smile, proud of what they had accomplished, was one of the most heartwarming moments of the day.
More importantly, the program demonstrated how music continues to transform the children's confidence and personal growth. Many children who were once shy and hesitant to perform now stood confidently before an audience, reflecting not only their musical development but also their growing self-esteem, discipline, and courage. The recognition they received has inspired them to attend classes more regularly, practice with greater enthusiasm, and continue believing in themselves.
The Government Shishu Paribar officials, including the newly appointed Program Head, experienced our program for the first time. They were deeply impressed by the children's performances and the progress they had made through the music classes. They shared very positive feedback and expressed their appreciation for our continued partnership and for the meaningful impact the program is creating in the lives of the children.
The success of this event would not have been possible without the incredible dedication of our volunteers. Their commitment, patience, and passion made the celebration truly special, and I am deeply grateful for the care and encouragement they continue to provide to every child in the program.
This celebration was about much more than music. It was about children discovering confidence, joy, hope, and a sense of belonging. Thank you for making these opportunities possible. Your continued support allows us to create meaningful experiences that help children grow not only as young musicians but also as confident and resilient individuals.
